A meeting was held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, where several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet discussed the situation of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The primary focus of the meeting was a directive from Prabowo for ministers to find solutions for the affected workers. Among the attendees were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo emphasized the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the urgency of resolving the issues faced by PT Sritex after its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new working scheme in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the efforts of the curator in ensuring that former Sritex employees could possibly be rehired within the next two weeks.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s commitment to provide support and guidance is expected to bring relief to PT Sritex employees impacted by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively advocating for the rights of PT Sritex Group workers, ensuring they receive layoff compensation and other normative rights. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, which will ultimately result in the reemployment of the laid-off workers. This initiative aims to bring stability to the affected employees and offer a solution to their current predicament.
