Indonesia Urges BRICS to Boost Imports of Indonesian Products

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, made his debut appearance at the BRICS Summit as the newly admitted full member from Indonesia. The summit, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, focused on enhancing international economic cooperation. Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, highlighted the importance of the Leaders’ Declaration, which emphasized strengthening multilateralism and reforming global governance. Of particular significance to Indonesia was the focus on promoting peace, security, and international economic cooperation to expand market access for Indonesian products within the BRICS framework. The summit saw the participation of founding members—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—along with recently admitted countries like Indonesia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.
