President Prabowo Subianto recently shared details about his direct talks with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding trade tariffs. He described the negotiations as tough but ultimately successful. The discussions were centered on mutual understanding of both countries’ national interests. As a result of the negotiations, the United States agreed to lower import tariffs on Indonesian goods from 32% to 19%. Despite the challenges, Prabowo emphasized that the Indonesian government carefully calculated every step to protect the interests of the public and domestic workers. He expressed confidence in Indonesia’s economic resilience amid global uncertainties and mentioned plans for an upcoming visit to the United States, with a potential meeting with President Trump in September or October. Prabowo even joked about the possibility of playing golf with Trump during the visit.
