National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is actively promoting local employment by hiring workers for the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) from individuals living in extreme and general poverty. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to BGN, stated that a minimum of 30% of the personnel in each SPPG will be chosen from underprivileged households, in line with the President’s directive to ensure that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program also creates job opportunities. Currently, there are 2,378 SPPG units established in collaboration with 6,076 local economic institutions, with 93,572 community members volunteering in the program. The MBG Program has benefitted over 7.4 million people nationwide, including students from different educational levels, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, and others. In order to reach more people, BGN is planning to launch an additional 2,401 SPPG units in the next 10 days, with the goal of serving around 15 million beneficiaries. This initiative demonstrates a significant effort to support job creation and address nutritional needs in marginalized communities.
