Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga) Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka emphasized the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests and engaging in physical activities together to prevent addiction to games and gadgets. Isyana shared this advice during a discussion on The Role of Family Development in Welcoming a Golden Indonesia 2045, hosted by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) in collaboration with Gempita in Jakarta. She highlighted the need for parents to constantly learn and adapt to new online applications as children often outpace their parents in technological knowledge. Isyana pointed out that children are naturally drawn to instant gratification, such as from social media or online games, which can result in addiction. To counter this, she suggested incorporating sports, sunlight, and outdoor activities into their daily routine, emphasizing the importance of physical movement for overall well-being.
Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronica Tan, also introduced the Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program, aimed at providing a safe and inclusive space for women, children, and communities to empower themselves, engage in creative activities, and foster traditional games and sports. Through RBI, Veronica hopes to keep children away from gadget addiction by encouraging them to explore safe and creative spaces for play and learning.
