Isaque Hattu, the Chair of the Indonesian Diaspora in São Paulo, was among those present to warmly welcome the President. He expressed his delight in welcoming President Prabowo and the entire delegation, highlighting the strong sense of solidarity among the relatively small Indonesian community in Brazil.
During their interaction, Hattu shared with the President about his background and family origins from Maluku and Kupang. President Prabowo showed interest in Hattu’s story, mentioning his parents’ past work as missionaries in Brazil. It was also noted that the President recognized the name of Petrus Oktavianus, an Indonesian figure with ties to Brazil.
As their conversation came to a close, Hattu conveyed his hope that President Prabowo’s leadership would enhance the relationship between Indonesia and Brazil. He emphasized the importance of cultural exchange, grassroots engagement, and fostering a better understanding of Indonesia among Brazilians to strengthen the bond between the two nations.
