The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily suspended the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) due to the discovery of substandard food within the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, announced the firm action taken by the agency in Jakarta. BGN is working with independent institutions, local health, and education departments to investigate the incident and ensure the health of affected students. The agency expresses deep apologies to students, parents, schools, and all parties impacted by the unfit food discovery. BGN maintains a zero-tolerance policy for negligence in procuring and distributing MBG meals that may endanger beneficiaries’ health. The agency is collaborating with local government authorities to swiftly and effectively respond to the situation. Redy emphasized that the incident will prompt necessary improvements, including stricter partner screening, enhanced hygiene standards, supply chain enhancements, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The National Nutrition Agency is dedicated to upholding food safety standards within the MBG Program while ensuring the intended benefits are delivered without compromising health. Ongoing support and vigilance from stakeholders are crucial for the program’s effective continuation.
