Farmers play a significant role in President Prabowo Subianto’s heart as stated by Dedek Prayudi, Senior Expert at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO). This deep connection can be traced back to two key moments in Prabowo’s life, one during his time in the military where he received tremendous support from local communities and farmers, and the other when he led the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI). The importance of the food security program was emphasized during the grand corn harvest event in Jenggalu Village, Seluma Regency, Bengkulu Province, led by President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The program aims to reduce Indonesia’s reliance on foreign food supplies, especially in the face of global uncertainties. With government support in the form of subsidized fertilizers, pesticides, and agricultural machinery, the cultivation area and yields are expected to increase, motivating farmers to further improve their production. The call to expedite administrative procedures to access subsidized fertilizers was made to the village head, emphasizing the utilization of government facilities to enhance production capacities and the well-being of farmers. Kelik Budianan from the National Food Agency (Pusdatin Bapanas) expressed support for President Prabowo’s initiative, working in collaboration with the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) to absorb farmers’ corn harvests. Efforts are also being made to integrate the supply chains of farmers and livestock breeders to ensure favorable prices for crops, feed costs, and livestock. This initiative was endorsed by various stakeholders including district heads, village officials, and representatives from relevant organizations during the event in Jenggalu Village.
