Some drivers, including Max Verstappen, have criticized the energy management required in F1, likening it to that in Formula E. In comparison, Formula E cars have not faced similar challenges with energy management on straights, enabling drivers to stay in high-power Attack Mode without speed loss. Longo believes that F1 should return to its roots of noise, power, and cutting-edge technologies, rather than attempting to emulate Formula E. He stresses that both championships offer unique propositions and states the need for F1 to retain its identity and differentiate from Formula E.
Looking ahead, Longo considers Formula E a potential testing ground for new circuits, especially with the introduction of the more powerful Gen4 car in the upcoming seasons. As Formula 1 incorporates more electric and hybrid technologies, Longo predicts an increase in the crossover of personnel between the two series, with F1 looking to Formula E for technical expertise and talent.
