President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, made a special appearance at the Singapore National Day Parade on August 9, coinciding with the city-state’s 60th Independence Day celebrations. Every year on August 9, Singaporeans celebrate National Day to mark the country’s independence in 1965.

President Prabowo’s official aircraft touched down at Paya Lebar Airbase at 3:40 p.m. local time, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Following a warm welcome at the airport, the President’s entourage headed to the hotel where he would be staying. The hotel lobby was bustling with Indonesian citizens, diaspora members, students, and embassy officials eagerly waiting to greet their Head of State.

President Prabowo took the time to personally greet each Indonesian and diaspora member present, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. His presence was met with cheers, applause, and a sense of patriotism from the expatriate community, including Indonesian students studying in Singapore. This visit not only emphasized the strong bond between Indonesia and Singapore but also showcased the President’s personal connection and approachability towards his citizens living abroad.
